MTN TRADING STATEMENT                                                      
     MTN is currently finalising its financial results for the six month period 
     ended 30 June 2006, expected to be released on the morning of 30 August    
     2006.                                                                      
In terms of Section 3.4 (b) (Trading Statements) of the Listings           
     Requirements of the JSE Limited ("the JSE Listings Requirements"), issuers 
     are required to publish a trading statement as soon as they are satisfied  
     that a reasonable degree of certainty exists that the earnings for the     
period to be reported upon next will differ by at least 20% from those of  
     the previous corresponding period. Due to the recent change in financial   
     year end, this trading statement does not strictly conform to these        
     requirements as there is no previous comparable six month reporting period.
Shareholders are advised that MTN expects Basic Headline Earnings per Share
     will be between 283c and 293c while Adjusted Headline Earnings per Share   
     will be between 273c and 283c for the six month period ended 30 June 2006. 
     Attributable Earnings per Share for the six month period ended 30 June 2006
is expected to be between 283c and 293c.                                   
     This trading statement has neither been reviewed nor reported on by MTN"s  
     external auditors.
