TRADING STATEMENT                                                               
MTN is currently finalising its audited financial results for the nine month    
period ended 31 December 2005, expected to be released on 23 March 2006.        
In terms of Section 3.4 (b) (Trading Statements) of the Listings Requirements of
the JSE Limited ("the JSE Listings Requirements"), issuers are required to      
publish a trading statement as soon as they are satisfied that a reasonable     
degree of certainty exists that the earnings for the period to be reported upon 
next will differ by at least 20% from those of the previous corresponding       
period. Due to the change in financial year end, this trading statement does not
strictly conform to these requirements as there is no comparative previous      
corresponding nine month period.                                                
Shareholders are advised that MTN expects Basic Headline Earnings per Share will
be between 347c and 364c while Adjusted Headline Earnings per Share will be     
between 328c and 345c for the nine month period ended 31 December 2005.         
Attributable Earnings per Share for the nine month period ended 31 December 2005
is expected to be between 340c and 357c.                                        
This trading statement has neither been reviewed nor reported on by MTN"s       
external auditors.
