With reference to recent articles in the South African and Nigerian press, M-
Cell Limited ("M-Cell") would like to state that its subsidiary company, MTN
Nigeria Communications Limited ("MTN Nigeria") had an active subscriber base
of 327 000 as at 31 March 2002 and a total of 368 000 active subscribers by
the end of April 2002.  It is further advised that in terms of MTN Nigeria's
business plans, the Nigerian market is expected to reach 10 million
subscribers within the first ten years of operation.
