MTN announces leadership and operational structure changes                      
MTN announces the appointment of Ahmad Farroukh to the position of Group Chief  
Operating Executive (GCOE) with effect from 1 April 2012. He is currently the   
MTN Vice President (VP) for the WECA region and director of a major subsidiary  
MTN Nigeria, having joined MTN in 2006 as part of the Investcom acquisition and 
later becoming CEO of MTN Nigeria - among his previous roles.                   
The GCOE will have 7 Opco CEOs reporting directly to him (MTN Irancell, MTN     
Ghana, MTN Cote d`Ivoire, MTN Afghanistan, MTN Syria, MTN Cameroon and MTN      
Uganda). Also to report to the GCOE will be a new position, Operations          
Executive, which will be responsible for the rest of the operations (MTN Cyprus,
MTN Guinea-Conakry, MTN Guinea-Bissau, MTN Botswana, MTN Rwanda, MTN Benin, MTN 
Congo-Brazzaville, MTN Liberia, MTN Sudan, MTN Swaziland, MTN Yemen and MTN     
Zambia).                                                                        
The CEOs of South Africa and Nigeria will report directly to the Group President
and CEO. They will also serve on Group EXCO as full members.                    
The new Operations Structure will work with the GCOE to support operations in   
the following areas:                                                            
-    Provide direction and guidance to the Opcos in line with the Group strategy
-    Implement strategic initiatives in alignment with the Group strategy       
-    Consolidate Opco reporting                                                 
-    Facilitate effective execution and sharing of best practice between Opcos  
-    Ensure operational effectiveness                                           
With the consolidation of the regional structures, current SEA VP and director  
of a major subsidiary MTN South Africa, Ignatius Sehoole will assume a new role 
in the Group Business Risk Management division with effect from 1 April 2012.   
MTN Group President and CEO congratulated Ahmad and Ignatius on their           
appointments.
