FATAL INCIDENT AT IMPALA PLATINUM`S 14 SHAFT                                    
Implats advises with deep regret that a major fall of ground occurred at 14     
Shaft in Rustenburg resulting in multiple fatalities.  The incident occurred at 
approximately 12:00pm (20 July 2009).  We can confirm at this stage that two    
employees have been fatally injured.                                            
David Brown, chief executive officer of Implats said:  "We are deeply shocked by
this major incident and our deepest condolences go out to the loved ones of the 
people who lost their lives."                                                   
Proto teams are at the scene of the accident searching for seven unaccounted    
employees.  All operations are suspended at 14 Shaft.
