Jack Lemein, Franklin Advisers Inc
Jack Lemein is senior vice president of Franklin's fixed-income securities trading, a vice president of Franklin Templeton Distributors, Inc. and executive vice president of Franklin Advisers, Inc. He is portfolio manager of the Franklin US Government Fund. Mr Lemein joined Franklin in 1984, bringing his broad background in the securities industry, which he has worked in since 1967. Prior to joining Franklin Templeton Investments, he served as vice president with Tuttle & Noroian (a San Francisco investment counselling firm), vice president of ISI Corporation and assistant vice president of The First Boston Corporation. Mr Lemein received a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from the University of Illinois. He is a member of the San Francisco Bond Club, the San Francisco Traders Association and the Security Analysts of San Francisco.
 
Roger Bayston, CFA, Franklin Advisors Inc
Roger Bayston is senior vice president and portfolio manager for Franklin Advisers, Inc. Mr Bayston is a senior portfolio manager for several fixed-income products and private accounts for the Franklin Templeton Investments. He directs a staff performing research and trading responsibilities for government, mortgage, investment grade corporate and asset-backed securities. In addition, Mr Bayston leads the team responsible for risk management of Franklin's bond portfolios and fixed income products. Before joining Franklin in 1991, Mr Bayston managed portfolios of fixed-income securities for Bankers Trust Company's Investment Management Group. He holds a bachelor of science degree from the University of Virginia and an MBA from the University of California at Los Angeles. He is a member of the Security Analysts of San Francisco and the Association for Investment Management and Research (AIMR). He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

The investment objective of the fund is to achieve safety of principal and income primarily through investing in debt obligations issued or guaranteed by the United States Government and its agencies.
