Management
Nick Mottram, BA (Hons) II.i
Nick Mottram was born in 1962. After gaining a degree in English and American Literature from the University of Kent at Canterbury, he joined Touche Ross and Co in 1984 as a trainee accountant. Nick went on to qualify as a chartered accountant in 1988, working as an audit manager. He joined Schroder Investment Management Limited in 1990 as an investment analyst, moving to their UK pension fund management team in 1991. Whilst continuing to manage UK equity portfolios, he was appointed Head of UK Research in 1996, and in 1999 he became joint head of Pan European research. Nick joined Investec in 2000 as head of equities.
 
Focus and Objective
The fund aims to provide capital appreciation primarily through investment in international equities. The substantial majority of the fund is invested in privatisation issues, initially in existing privatised companies. A privatisation issue is defined as a publicly quoted company, in which a government has, or has had, a significant shareholding or influence. The fund will take advantage of privatisation issues globally as they occur in the coming years.
