Management
Mr Tim Guinness, B.Sc. (Engineering), Masters Degree in Management
Tim began his banking career at Baring Brothers in 1970. He moved to Guinness Mahon in 1977 becoming a director in 1979. He initially worked in the Corporate Finance Department, and later transferred to the Investment Department, becoming senior investment director in 1982. In 1987, Tim became joint managing director of Guinness Flight Global Asset Management, which was established in a restructuring as a part management owned subsidiary of Guinness Mahon. From 1987 to 1997 he was responsible for the company’s equity investment operations and chaired the Central Asset Allocation Committee. In 1997, Hambro Fund Management Limited was acquired and changed to Guinness Flight Hambro Asset Management and Tim became chief executive officer of the enlarged company. In 1998, Investec Asset Management was formed and Tim is joint chairman of the company.
 
Focus and Objective
The fund seeks to achieve capital growth principally through investment in companies throughout the world involved in the exploration, production or distribution of oil, gas and other energy sources. In addition, investment may also be made in companies which service the energy industry.
